Philosophy
We believe that all children can learn to swim, and when given a consistent and repetitive structure, children, no matter age, will begin to internalize the process and empower themselves.
Environment
Our expectations of swimmers, as their guides, will be based on their individual development level of awareness and capacity. Skills are taught in a patient, consistent, and positive manner.
In a supportive environment, with clear boundaries, the joy of learning new skills will be celebrated, no matter how slight the action may be perceived.
Technique
Proper skills and technique are taught according to each swimmer's age and developmental ability.
Our program emphasizes rolling and floating/ stabilizing on the back, as water safety is the ultimate goal.
Repetition of a skill, done properly, leads to mastery.
Weekly classes build on the fundamentals, which help progressively shape behavior and movement from gross to subtle. Each week, the swimmer will work on their skills and technique, according to their swim level, until these skills are internalized and become second nature.
Too much concentration on refinement at the beginning of a swimmer's journey can create frustration, but when done in intervals, with consistant instruction, proper corrections will sharpen and strengthen the swimmer's skills each week, and build a strong foundation.
In more advanced classes, basics are still practiced to keep the integrity of the skill, with refinements, while introducing more advanced teachnique and building endurance.
When a swimmer has mastered the skills according to their level, they graduate to the next swim level in our program, where more advanced skills, technique, and strokes are introduced.
Consistancy is a key ingrediant to a swimmer's progress.
